Demolishing Historic Buildings
Faribault's historic buildings are a great asset. Demolitions should only be done as an absolute last resort.
The County should not have purchased these buildings if they did not intend to maintain them. End of story.
As a current member of the Heritage Preservation Commission, the County’s actions outrage me.
As your County Commissioner, I will value Faribault's historic buildings. I will scrutinize every proposed demolition and, if it is deemed truly necessary, ensure that the public has adequate input on what is done with the land.
Keeping publicly-owned buildings empty does not serve Faribault. Neglecting historic buildings does not serve Faribault. Demolishing without a next step does not serve Faribault.
