I’ve lived my whole life in Faribault. Growing up, I never understood why everyone didn’t love it the way I did. My parents, Troy and Linda Temple, fostered my love of history and storytelling. They taught me to take part in the community and stay engaged civically, which has led me to run for office today.
In 2015, I decided to try and make people feel the way I did about Faribault. I started working on documentaries which would share the proud history of our town. I also wrote a play depicting scenes from our history. When I graduated from Faribault High School in 2019, I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at a local nonprofit. It is my passion to serve Faribault.
In 2020, I volunteered to serve on the City of Faribault’s Planning Commission and Heritage Preservation Commission. I have loved every minute of serving on these commissions. Debating and troubleshooting with my fellow volunteers, hearing from passionate community members, and considering the future of Faribault is always the highlight of my week.
I own and operate a small business, Steamboat Media Company, LLC, which specializes in history and building community. For my day job, I drive along the Cannon River to work for the City of Northfield, where I serve as Station Manager for Northfield Public Broadcasting.
Through my day job and my volunteer commission work, I have developed a deep understanding of how local government functions. I have formed professional relationships with dedicated civil servants across Rice County. It is my honor to serve alongside them in my current capacity; I hope to also do so as Rice County Commissioner.
Other community activities include: Serving as an Election Judge, teaching courses for the Elder Collegium, participating in theatre at the Paradise Center for the Arts, becoming a certified Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteer at River Bend Nature Center, and receiving the Faribault Citizen of the Year award in 2019.
